    We are seeking a leader for our Corporate Actuarial department in Springfield, MO. This role will be responsible for enterprise risk management initiatives. Projects will include capital / catastrophe modeling and exposure management. The ideal candidate should have thorough understanding of actuarial principals, present a professional image, possess the ability to work effectively with others, have innate organizational skills, and be self-driven.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the development and direction of a professional actuarial staff and related support positions
    • Schedule, direct, and execute projects
    • Use risk modeling to inform ERM decisions and monitor capital levels
    • Develop, report, and refine catastrophe model output
    • Develop and report internal capital model output
    • Enhance internal capital model methodologies
    • Liaise with personnel from various departments
    • Develop and refine methodologies, processes, and support the presentation of such efforts to leadership, regulatory authorities, reinsurance intermediaries, reinsurers, rating agencies, and other applicable parties

     

    Qualifications:

    • 4 year completed degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or related field, or the equivalent is required
    • Minimum of 8 years’ actuarial experience and five years’ management experience
    • ACAS / FCAS designation preferred
    • Professional image and strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Thorough understanding of and ability to apply and communicate actuarial principles is essential
    • Ability to work effectively with others and motivate and manage other’s work product, especially those not in the same geographic location
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage several projects at the same time
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access and Word
    • Self-motivated and attentive to details
    • Ability to anticipate questions and issues that may arise
