The Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the company’s marketing function including but not limited to the creation of marketing collateral in a variety of mediums, corporate advertising, social media, company website, internal and external communication in various formats, and general marketing duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff.
This individual is a creative and analytical thinker with the ability to appropriately shift priorities throughout the workday and on short notice, communicate effectively and efficiently with others, and produce a high volume of quality work within a dynamic and fast-paced environment on tight deadlines. This employee has a large degree of autonomy and must prioritize and communicate with a variety of departments in the company to serve marketing-related needs. This is an exempt, full-time position, reporting to the Chief of Staff.
Essential Functions:
? Review current marketing campaign opportunities and develop solutions within budget constraints.
? Leading and training the marketing associates
? Manage marketing projects large and small for retail, and other departments of the company
? Contribute ideas, concepts, and layout to marketing materials and branding projects
? Create and write all content for all marketing and brand-related materials across all platforms and mediums
? Help create advertising, display, and promotional materials for a variety of mediums both digital and analog
? Balance legal compliance with design aesthetics
? Manage design projects and propose layout ideas when needed or called upon
? Lead the company’s media strategy and messaging
? Lead the design and vendor sourcing for packaging, and branded apparel and accessories
? Perform research related to marketing, brands, events, and business initiatives
? Attend and manage booths at trade shows and industry or brand related events
? Create newsletters and email blasts in collaboration with marketing associates
? Assist with product design and creating new brands
? Review and manage marketing budget and brainstorm and implement a process for creating revenue.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
? Education & Experience:
? A minimum of 8 years of marketing experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business Administration or equivalent experience and education
? Combination of freelance and corporate experience preferred
? Experience working in the cannabis industry or a complex highly regulated industry a plus
? Skills
? Demonstrated proficiency in creative design with a discerning eye for brand appropriateness in messaging and design
? Strong demonstrated writing skills in both corporate copy and creative mediums
? Prior experience in industry-specific corporate advertising
? Familiarity with marketing, web, and social media analytics, reporting and tracking key performance indicators
? Familiarity with photography and photo/video styling
? Familiarity with creating shot lists for photoshoots
? Ability to work on content and design for multiple different brands and aesthetics simultaneously
? Good eye for color and deep understanding of hierarchical messaging in marketing and brand materials
? Familiarity with UI and UX for design layout and product packaging
? Familiarity with product design
? Familiarity with consumer buying trends and current market trends
? Ability to stay on brand while simultaneously managing several brands and styles
? Work experience in web, print, packaging, product design, promotions, social media, newsletters, internal communications, newsletters, email blasts, marketing collateral, retail display, trade show materials, pitch decks, billboards, advertising, print/digital articles, promotional materials, PowerPoint presentations, stationary, labeling, apparel, and consumer accessories
? Familiarity with corporate investor and/or shareholder reporting and associated collateral
? Familiarity with vertically integrated companies including operations, distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, and retail within a highly regulated, complex industry
? Intuitive grasp of the impact of design on consumer buying habits
? Interested in advanced technological solutions for marketing to consumers and for internal tools

? Must be located in the state of California and able to work from our office in Salinas the majority of the time.
? Must have the ability to travel as needed to our locations in Monterey County, San Jose, and Union City
? Must be familiar and comfortable with using technology for communication such as Skype, Zoom, and Google Meet for video, screen sharing, and remote communication needs.
