The International Logistics Operations Manager will build, lead, train, and guide the department of International Logistics. Partner with Director of Logistics to devise a tactical and strategic plan in partnership with purchasing to achieve budget goal and deliver high level of quality capacity and service. This role reports to the Director of Logistics. They will work closely with the operation and sales team, build relationships with logistics partners (freight forwarder, ocean, rail, truck), and handle all technical details of international transportation, including but not limited to multiple modes of moving freight, complex documentation, and customs regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Understand compliance and regulations and adhere to the legal requirements of the import/export countries, tariffs, and customs; remain up to date on all current legal requirements
- Perform effective negotiations with carriers, forwarders, and other logistics partners
- Establish and deliver predictable and reliable transit times. Maintain excellent levels of communication with internal logistics leadership throughout all stages of the shipping process
- Investigate C-TPAT security program with Customs compliance manager
- Collaborate on sales planning and provide logistics expertise
- Manage budget and track spending for related activities
- Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of related work experience ideally within ocean freight, carrier management or supply chain logistics required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field preferred
- Focus on customer service, with experience in providing high quality and timely delivery of goods required
- Experience with the mid-size and large global freight forwarding companies; a strong global network of agents, affiliations, and partnerships required
- Knowledge of international shipping required
- Knowledge of and experience with Sales Pad and SAP systems is a plus
