    Trainer Key Contributions ENGAGE: Engages with members to drive loyalty to PE@PF. The trainer should be motivational, inspirational and provide continuous encouragement. Always looking for opportunities to deliver +1%. SUPPORT: Supports members in achieving their individual goals. Lets each member tell you what he/she would like to accomplish. Avoids making assumptions about a member's goals. PROMOTE: Promotes the program to members. When a session isn't booked, trainers can walk the floor and greet members they haven't met. Looks for members doing the types of exercises that will be performed in the upcoming session and reminds them that the sessions are always FREE and unlimited. FOSTER: Fosters staff member understanding of the PE@PF Program. Teaches staff about the different types of sessions offered and encourages them to communicate this information to members. Generates excitement for the program and involves staff members in developing strategies to increase PE@PF usage.

    Trainer Job Description

    Design individual exercise programs for each member based on their exercise experience, medical background and personal goals

    Trains Planet Fitness members during PE@PF small group training sessions

    Submits all training programs and workout logs to the supervisor for review

    Logs training session attendance into the DataTrak system

    Tracks and records PE@PF success metrics

    Monitors the primary workout areas to make sure that members are using the equipment appropriately

    Developing and implementing exercise programs that are safe, effective and appropriate for individuals who are apparently healthy or have medical clearance to exercise

    Conducting health history interviews in order to determine the need for referral and to identify any contraindications for exercise

    Assisting members in setting and achieving realistic fitness goals

    Teaching correct exercise form and technique, including progressions and regressions, through demonstration, explanation and proper cueing and spotting techniques

    Empowering individuals to begin and adhere to their exercise programs using guidance, support, motivation, lapse-prevention strategies and effective feedback

    Designing structured exercise programs for individuals and small groups

    Educating members about fitness and health-related topics, to help them in adopting healthful behaviors that facilitate exercise program success

    Protecting member confidentiality according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and related state and federal laws

    Referring members to other healthcare professionals when appropriate

    Being prepared for emergency situations and responding appropriately when they occur

    Punctuality and reliability is a must.

    Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member’s expectations.

    Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve.

    Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.

    Current CPR Certification required (or within 30 days of hire)

    Nationally Certified Training Certificate not required for hire. Certification is necessary by 6 months from hire date; company assists team member in achieving certification.

    High School diploma/GED equivalent required.

    Must be 18 years of age or older.

    Physical Demands

    Continual standing and walking during shift.

    Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.

    Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

    Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift.
