Job Summary
The Payroll Associate opportunity is a hybrid role that offers a flexible in-office and remote schedule, with in-office attendance expected on core payroll processing days (i.e., typically Monday-Wednesday every other week). This role is primarily responsible in assisting with the timely and accurate preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll, via Workday system/ platform, for over 2,000 employees in the United States and Canada. This includes both salary and hourly withholdings for federal, state/ provincial, and social insurance taxes, deductions for employee benefits garnishments, etc. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and in a team environment to meet deadlines under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor. This position will have a major part in maintaining and improving the Workday system/ platform.
Essential Functions
Preparation and processing of bi-weekly payrolls via Workday
Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and coding
Process ad-hoc payments related to schedule changes/ updates, employee turnover, and any manual checks in accordance with state regulated timeframes
Collaborate with HR to ensure setup of accurate payroll and benefit deductions and assist in processing changes to payroll information such as compensation changes, position changes, etc.
Maintain appropriate payroll records in accordance with company policies and procedures
Process and distribute scheduled payroll reports as they relate to finance, benefits, and any other organizational needs
Audit, balance, and assist in quarterly and annual wage & tax filings
Actively participate in payroll, worker’s compensation, 401k, and unemployment audits
Respond to team and management inquiries in a timely manner
Initiate investigations and owns any follow up needed
Assist in finding and implementing process efficiencies
Perform ad-hoc analysis and other job related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
2+ years of payroll experience
Knowledge of processing multi location payroll in system/ platform; Workday preferred
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
Strong time management and organization skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Strong work ethic and team player
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, plus overtime as needed
Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Experience in a high-growth organization a plus

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds and operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and arms to reach, handle or feel.
