Job Summary:
The Regional Director will be responsible for directing the day-to-day functions and activities of Planet Fitness clubs multiple
regions, across multiple states. This position will impact the business and operations of Taymax by implementing continuous
improvement initiatives that will deliver long term benefits to the organization. This position will recruit, hire, develop and retain
high-performing teams to achieve operational excellence and to deliver daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual metrics.
Through inspirational and motivational leadership, the Regional Director will build a team- and member-oriented focus to
create a fun, energetic and welcoming club culture.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple Planet Fitness clubs in
multiple regions, providing general business counsel and operational guidance.
· Collaborate with Area Directors, Area Managers and General Managers to develop and maximize results in their
respective markets and clubs while maintaining a consistent member experience and operational compliance.
· Support Area Directors in all aspects of the business, ensuring all clubs meet and exceed Planet Fitness brand
standards.
· Act as the primary point of contact for corporate cross-functional business units, interacting with multiple internal
stakeholders (e.g. Global Operations, Facilities & Maintenance, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, etc.) to
ensure deliverables are being met.
· Ensure effective use and execution of company systems and platforms that are in place to improve efficiency and
consistency of club operations (e.g. Workday, Coupa, Microsoft 365, internal communication and training platforms,
etc.).
· Facilitate regular business reviews and market visits, including competitive analysis; workforce planning; club
evaluation; coaching, teaching & training; and development of long-range plans.
· Provide support and guidance to Area Directors in respect to market development to ensure successful club
openings.
· Work with and influence multiple internal and external stakeholders acting as a project manager, leveraging multiple
resources, and ensuring tasks and action items get completed on time.
· Conduct regular monthly visits in each market, building relationships with employees at all levels, collaborating with
the Area Directors and Area Managers to assess overall performance of the team and club.
· In partnership with Area Directors and Area Managers, develop internal and external talent pools by market to
maintain succession plans that are sustainable for planned growth.
· Ensure compliance with all Taymax company standards and processes, adherence to the franchisee model, and
execution of Planet Fitness brand standards.
· Project and practice consistent leadership attributes which provide a high level of customer service at all points of
contact.
· Embody “One Team/One Planet” mindset to build teamwork and consistency across all regions.
· Other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, MBA preferred.
· Minimum 7-10 years in retail operations experience or similar.
· Previous experience working in franchised system (franchisee or franchisor) preferred.
· Demonstrated professional level skills to positively motivate, overcome barriers and act as champion/change agent
for continuous improvement as well as establishing accountability for meeting objectives.
· Must possess self-motivation, business acumen, in-depth analytical skills, strong detail orientation, and execution
skills necessary to efficiently and effectively complete projects and manage priorities.
· Results driven and action oriented with ability to provide sustained high levels of energy.
· Desire and ability to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced and dynamic environment.
· Proven track record of identifying and attracting talent and developing a highly driven, high performing teams.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with cross-
functional internal and external stakeholders.
· Must be able to travel 75% of the time to various markets. Must hold or be eligible to obtain a passport for travel
between the US and Canada, and must meet all criteria in effect from time to time for such travel, including but not
limited to vaccination for COVID-19.
· Proficient in Microsoft applications (e.g. 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc).
Supervisory Responsibility: Area Directors
Travel: 75% of the time to various markets. Occasional cross-border travel between US and Canada is required.
Physical Demands: Continual talking in person or on the phone. Ability to continuously stand or walk, bend, squat and
occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals.
Work Environment: This job is subject to a variety of physical conditions when in the club environment. This job also
operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, filing
cabinets, fax machines.
