  • Responsibilities

    The Maintenance Technician handles preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair work. Utilizes a general knowledge of commercial and/or residential carpentry, electrical, plumbing, light construction, painting, and grounds keeping to ensure the comfort and safety of members, visitors, and staff through proper repair and maintenance of the building facilities, equipment and vehicles. Must be able to participate in on call schedule and work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather as needed. Responsibilities include:

    • Conduct daily walk through to assess asset conditions and priority ensuring that equipment throughout the facility is operating safely and properly.

    • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on all building components.

    • Assisting and performing preventative maintenance duties including visual inspections, repairs, cleaning, testing, and diagnostic work of equipment and systems.

    • Completing work orders as assigned.

    • Repairing building components such as doors, windows, walls, flooring, appliances, fixtures, cardio and strength equipment, etc. as required.

    • Monitoring the fire and safety integrity of the facility by operating and testing the emergency fire safety systems and AED Devices.

    • Responding to all building and life safety emergencies.

    • Documenting all equipment maintenance and repairs in the computerized maintenance tracking system. Maintains work order records, work logs and reports.

    • Participating in maintenance on-call schedule as assigned.

    • Update Purchase orders, order parts for repairs and establish timeframes for part delivery.

    • Hire outside contractors as needed for specialty projects. Customer Service:

    • Demonstrate positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity and professionalism to internal and external customers.

    • Promote Planet Fitness products and services. Safety:

    • Use all required safety devices and personal protection equipment.

    • Report accidents and injuries to supervisor as soon as possible.

    • Participate in safety training and safety inspections.

    • Suggest methods of preventing hazards to supervisor. Education & Experience:

    • Trade or Technical School with Degree

    • Two to four years facility maintenance experience or equivalent training.

    • CPR/AED certification required within 30 days of hire.

    • CFC Cert.

    • EPA Cert. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Ability to multi-task and learn quickly

    • Awareness of potential injuries and ability to handle emergencies

    • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, has ability to prioritize work within given deadlines and to address emergencies as they may occur.

    • Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner

    • Ability to work independently

    • Knowledge of machines and tools including, but not limited to, the design, use, repair process, and maintenance.

    • Extensive knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems

    • Ability to operate a personal computer
