    The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for applying the proper application of US GAAP to Planet Fitness’s accounting activities for daily and monthly accounting functions necessary to support our daily operational activities as well as month end and year end close activities. As our Accounting Supervisor, you will be specifically responsible for accounting oversight, review and preparation of activities required to maintain the company’s general ledger including, but not limited to lease accounting, cash, fixed assets, acquisitions, monthly accruals, equipment revenue areas and accounting for international operations, etc. This position will also be responsible for managing a Staff Accountant.

    In this role you will:

    Participate in the month end accounting close process and ensure proper application of US GAAP.

    Prepare & review journal entries for entry into the general ledger system by collecting necessary data; analyze and prepare audit trail support for the journal entries.

    Review month-end and quarterly equipment segment related journal entries.

    Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by staff accountants.

    Review general ledger transactions for accuracy; analyze to ensure proper expensing and capitalization of costs; research and correct discrepancies.

    Assist with P&L and Balance Sheet balance trend analyses; evaluate and thoroughly document variance explanations.

    Prepare monthly cashflow statement and quarterly cashflow analytics.

    Perform SOX controls; maintain process flowcharts and evidence of controls for areas of responsibility, as well as help manage open areas for the accounting team with internal control group.

    Assist with quarterly and annual examinations by external auditors; compile support, fill out audit templates, and fulfill other ad hoc requests, as needed.

    Assist in the preparation of supporting documents for 10-Q and 10-K documents and tie-outs, as needed.

    Assist in streamlining financial and business processes to identify cost savings, efficiencies, and improvements.

    Assist with ad hoc analyses and special projects, as necessary.

    Help manage IT roadmap communications between accounting & other company departments, as needed.

    About You:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 3-4 years relevant accounting experience

    A mix of corporate and public accounting experience strongly preferred

    Supervisory experience required

    Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate preferred

    SEC Reporting experience a plus

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    Solid understanding of US GAAP and SOX Compliance

    Organized and self-motivated

    Able to succeed in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment

    Proficient in Excel including advanced formulas

    Experience with Great Plains a plus
