    For the past 25 years, we’ve helped millions of people in their fitness journey and revolutionized the industry along the way. And we’re just getting started!  The PF Headquarters development team is searching for a VICE PRESIDENT, CONSTRUCTION, DESIGN & FRANCHISE DEVELOPMENT. 

    _A move to the New Hampshire area is a requirement for this role as you will work out of our Hampton, NH Corporate office. _ ABOUT THE ROLE:

    As an active member of Planet Fitness’ leadership team, the Vice President, Construction, Design & Franchise Development provides guidance on strategic direction, policy, and overall franchise system growth.  This role leads and directs teams in the achievement of strategic objectives and initiatives relating to Planet Fitness development, construction, design, equipment ordering, equipment placement and facilities.

    As our VP, Construction, Design & Franchise Development, you will be responsible for assessing development infrastructure while ensuring scalability and optimization of current processes.  A strong focus on implementing and executing upon cross-functional initiatives to drive domestic and international growth and improve the performance and profitability of the organization and affiliates is essential.

    In this role you will:

    • Lead and support teams in the Development Department: Construction, Construction Compliance, Design, Equipment Placement and Equipment Administration.
      • Lead the Construction Team in their mission to support cost-efficient and impactful franchisee construction projects and ensure that all clubs are built consistently with the PF Means & Methods.
      • Lead the new club Equipment Placement Team in their mission to ensure that all new clubs order and receive the appropriate equipment and that PF is paid in full for all orders and installations. 
      • Lead the Construction Compliance Team in their mission to ensure that all clubs being transferred or renewed are properly and efficiently remodeled and repaired consistent with their Franchise Agreements and the PF Means and Methods.
      • Lead the Design Team in their mission to constantly improve and refine the PF Means & Methods, and approve new club layouts, expansion layouts, club facades & exterior signage.
      • Partner with Company Club construction and maintenance teams to share best practices and ensure consistency with franchised clubs.
      • Lead entire Development Team in the cross-team evolution of PF clubs designed to drive member acquisition, retention and satisfaction.
        • Work with all teams to approve and manage outside vendors including architects, general contractors, and material vendors
    • Partner with the Chief Development Officer and Executive Team to:
      • Build consensus and alignment on market-specific development budgets, forecasts, goals and objectives.
      • Oversee financial objectives and forecasting. Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to improve results and profitability.
      • Scale the team, tools, plans and vendors to begin substantial international work.
      • Provide strategic guidance regarding large-scale planning and development and consult with key stakeholders to align department plans with company strategies.
    • Partner with the Chief Development Officer and VP of Real Estate to oversee strategic operations and execution of all phases of the franchise development process and maximize the business workflow by improving program efficiency from site selection to store opening.
    • Partner with financial leadership to develop and execute on capital initiatives related to development (i.e. budgeting, financing).
    • Champion efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures and implement a long term sustainability strategy that includes efficient energy and materials utilization.

     

    ABOUT YOU:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction or related field.
    • 12+ years of successful development experience in the multi-unit industry. 8+ years of proven experience developing and leading teams. 3+ years in franchise development.
    • Broad experience in areas of strategic franchise development, construction, architecture/design, facilities management, and finance.
    • Solid strategic expertise with a demonstrated ability to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the business and identify areas of improvement.
    • Excellent team leadership skills managing an organization through periods of extensive unit expansion and growth. Engaging management style with the ability to make sound decisions.
    • Experience overseeing operational improvements that drive increased profitability, greater operational effectiveness and efficiency, with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Strong financial acumen, focused on achieving financial results. Demonstrated knowledge of cash flow metrics and ROI.  Demonstrated ability to understand how to leverage the components of the P&L to drive revenue.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills in order to evaluate current systems and processes and implement “best in class” practices.
    • Solid negotiation skills with a high capacity for managing complexity.
    • Proven success supporting sophisticated multi-unit franchisees.
    • Excellent project, planning and time management skills.
    • Proficient in Word and Excel. Salesforce experience preferred. 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members of the organization.  
    • Results-oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.
    • Demonstrated skills in managing internal and external customers with excellent collaboration skills, listening skills and decision-making skills.
    • Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem-solving.
