As our Data Platform Architect you will be responsible for the technical design and technology roadmap for the company's data solutions and services. In this role, you will lead the data platform architecture strategy to provide data solutions that enable business intelligence, consumer intelligence, self-service analytics, and data-driven digital products and services.

Reporting to the Lead Enterprise Architect, you will also be responsible for formalizing the data architecture processes at Planet Fitness, including defining short and long-term technical architecture strategies and solutions across all data functions, setting architecture standards and development principles, participating in an architecture review board, evaluating new technologies and methodologies, and will work to minimize tech debt throughout the development lifecycle and product roadmap.

In this role you will:

Lead the planning, design, and implementation of data and analytics architecture strategy, implementation, and related processes

Drive data solutions architecture design and articulate architecture solution options to product owners and technical and business leadership

Ensure technology decisions align with enterprise standards and strategy

Understand data technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business needs

Analyze the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement

Facilitate the research, evaluation, and selection of software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations and technology platforms and determine fit within the enterprise architecture

Create and maintain architecture policies and procedures

Provide architectural oversight of projects ensuring requirements are in alignment with data architecture

Work closely with a team of architects and participate in various governance committees and review boards to define and evolve the definition of standards, guidance, and principles

Identify opportunities to reduce overall technology costs and improve the business

Participate in strategy definition, implementation planning, and large project estimation efforts

Develop reference architecture and reference implementation patterns related to data platform and security solutions

Define high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state that are well-aligned with the technology budget

Coach team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development

About You:

7+ years of experience in enterprise information architecture; developing detailed implementation roadmaps for analytical systems; providing business, governance and technical recommendations; analyzing inter-relationships between various domains of enterprise information including master data, metadata, operational data, unstructured data and analytical data

Diverse experience in technologies including Business Intelligence, data warehousing, IT System integration, Master Data Management (MDM), customer data platforms, and Enterprise Information Integration

Deep system-level expertise across multiple computing platforms and technologies with the ability to influence technology direction at the enterprise level.

Experience designing and recommending governance structures and control frameworks for ongoing management of data, analyzing project, program and portfolio needs, balancing short-term results with long-term needs and the ability to offer incremental approaches to achieve strategic objectives.

Experience in requirements definition, mapping and gap analysis.

Experience in Architecture/Solution design, prototyping development and deployment.

Experience in formal delivery methodologies, hands on technology and management experience on technical engagements, analysis and processing of complex data structures and procedures including ML- and AI-based, data-driven algorithms to drive sophisticated, personalized consumer experiences.

At least 3 years of hands-on experience with the suite of AWS products and services and with cloud design patterns and containers - AWS Solutions Architecture certification(s) is a plus

Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Lean, etc)

Excellent presentation and communication skills and ability to communicate effectively across the spectrum from engineers to executives
