And we’re just getting started!The PF Headquarters Development team is searching for a Manager, Construction to oversee our Western US region. Candidate must reside in the Western region of the U.S (preferably Southern California) and be willing and able to travel extensively. About the Role:

    As our Construction Manager, you will be responsible for constructing a seamless process to manage, coordinate, and direct all design and construction efforts for new store openings, remodels, renovations, and expansions for Planet Fitness franchise clubs in the Western Region of the United States. You will maintain and manage relationships with all national vendors relating to store build outs and partner with landlords on construction-related issues. You will continually develop the company brand and retail physical environment to uphold a seamless integration of architectural, brand, graphics, and technology standards and overall construction success.

    To be successful in this role, you will utilize your robust knowledge of finance and accounting principles to manage capital budgets and control costs. You will possess a fundamental understanding of building codes and working knowledge of jobsite trades and OSHA safety requirements to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and branding standards. The right candidate will be willing to travel extensively throughout the Western Region of the United States and will be focused on ensuring our design and brand standards are met through all phases of store layout and construction.

    Overall, as our Construction Manager and reporting to the Director of Construction, you will oversee the completion of development and construction projects, verifying that stores are built to architectural plans, specifications, and budgets. You will use your excellent project management skills and your extensive experience with on-site, ground-up construction to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget throughout all development phases.

    In this role you will:

    Manage and ensure the successful opening, remodeling, renovating, and expansion of all Planet Fitness locations in the assigned region including coordinating the interrelating activities of all contractors, suppliers, architects, vendors, and leasing agents.

    Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and branding standards.

    Ensure delivery of branded elements and prototypical standards in every store while communicating design and construction modifications accurately and effectively to the field, architects, and general contractors.

    Educate and guide architects and vendors on Planet Fitness’s brand standards and requirements.

    Perform on-site visits throughout the construction process to ensure clubs are being built to brand standards and requirements, and in accordance with project schedule and within budget.

    Assist in contract negotiations with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring all work scopes and timelines are well prepared and planned.

    Forecast and track project & build-out costs and obtain and analyze actual project & build-out costs.

    Manage overall timeliness of project schedules for new store and remodels, ensuring projected opening dates are met.

    Maintain and manage relationships with all national account vendors and partner with landlords on construction related issues.

    Support Franchisee, Ownership, and Operators through the development phase, primarily during pre-construction, construction, and close-out of construction.

    Travel extensively throughout the Western Region of the United States.

    About You:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related field

    5+ years’ experience in office and field construction management for a multi-unit fitness or retail organization

    Must already reside in the Western Region of the United States, close to a major airport, preferably in Southern California

    Ability to travel to all Planet Fitness locations in the Western region, required

    Extensive experience with on-site, ground-up construction and managing complex projects simultaneously

    Proven experience managing general contractors and working with Project Managers, subcontractors, and vendors

    Practical, proven experience managing capital budgets with an understanding of finance and accounting principles

    Financial acumen with an ability to manage budgets and control costs

    Fundamental understanding of building codes and working knowledge of jobsite trades and OSHA safety requirements

    Knowledge of a Multi-Unit Franchise system, preferred

    Excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage a project, plan and establish priorities, and work within deadlines and budgets

    Superior organizational and time management skills

    Possess strong oral and written communication skills and a contagious “can do” leadership style to successfully partner with internal and external teams

    Demonstrated abilities to make independent decisions and quickly and effectively solve complex problems

    Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives

    Exhibit confidence, ease, and flexibility working in an extremely fast-paced, ever-changing, deadline-driven environment
