    Planner/Buyer – Development (PAS)

    Position Overview
    The Planner/Buyer – Development is responsible for scheduling and purchasing materials to support development work within the business unit. This includes managing work orders to meet MRP and non-MRP requirements, handling non-conforming material matters, and ensuring accurate and timely processing, follow-up, and rescheduling. The role also requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings, including object dimensions, geometry, and tolerances.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Interpret engineering drawings, including object dimensions, geometry, and tolerances, to support supplier negotiations.

    • Implement processes for requisitioning, order placement, and tracking of development materials across multiple programs.

    • Plan and schedule work orders for in-house assembly and test activities.

    • Perform all data entry for requisitions and purchase orders, confirm supplier acknowledgements, and manage open orders.

    • Solicit and analyze supplier quotes for a wide variety of services and commodities.

    • Recommend suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery.

    • Manage component shortages and expedite materials to resolve schedule risks.

    • Collaborate with program management, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and purchasing to provide timely updates and resolve non-conforming material issues.

    Additional Duties

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and actively participate in team meetings.

    • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.

    • Provide training assistance to other personnel when needed.

    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

    • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree.

    • 4+ years of experience planning, scheduling, and purchasing make-to-print machined parts, COTS parts, make-to-spec electro-mechanical components, and special process/outside services (plating, painting, testing).

    • Experience supporting production or development cells.

    • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing principles.

    • Working knowledge of MRP systems and scheduling activities.

    • Strong computer skills with MS Office and other applicable systems.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Must be a U.S. citizen.

    Work Environment

    • Professional office setting combined with exposure to a manufacturing/machine shop environment.

    • May encounter fluids, fumes, airborne particles, mechanical parts, noise, and vibration.

    • Domestic travel to vendors (less than 10%).

    • Standard office equipment used; personal protective equipment required in shop areas.

    Physical Requirements

    • Regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and move around the facility.

    • Frequent use of hands and arms; ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.

    • Specific vision abilities required, including color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

    • Must pass job-required vision screening.
