Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized Planner / Purchasing Specialist to lead production scheduling and materials planning. This role is critical to ensuring our shop floor runs smoothly and efficiently — balancing capacity, material availability, and customer demand. Purchasing support is also part of the role, but the primary focus is on scheduling and planning through Fulcrum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, manage, and adjust detailed production schedules based on customer orders, capacity, and material availability.
- Use Fulcrum MRP to generate work orders, manage job priorities, and monitor job progress.
- Monitor and maintain planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, etc.) to ensure optimal flow of production.
- Coordinate closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to align schedules and resolve conflicts.
- Track and analyze work center loads to anticipate capacity constraints or bottlenecks.
- Generate and maintain reports on open jobs, late orders, and upcoming capacity needs , and communicate status to leadership.
- Forecast material requirements and communicate purchasing needs to the procurement team.
- Support purchasing efforts by issuing POs for materials not yet on order and following up with suppliers as needed.
- Help improve planning workflows and processes to support growth and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree, trade school certificate, or relevant coursework in supply chain, manufacturing technology, or business; a bachelor's degree is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations (aerospace preferred).
- Proficiency with MRP systems (experience with Fulcrum is highly preferred).
- Strong understanding of job travelers, BOMs, routing, lead times, and capacity planning.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume environment.
Preferred:
- Experience in an AS9100-certified environment.
- Familiarity with composite or interior aerospace materials and processes.
