    Must-Haves:

    • Work history as an Accounting Manager sitting at a manufacturing plant or distribution center. You
      must bring actual Plant Level Accounting Manager experience. NOT working for a manufacturer on the corporate side.
    • Currently reside in the Lawton area or willing to relocate without a full relocation package.

    Job Description:

    About the Position

    The Plant Accounting Manager for Lawton, Oklahoma, is responsible for the overall accounting, closing, inventory, and internal controls. This includes responsibility for the monthly statement close and all of the general accounting tasks required to maintain adequate internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and company policy. This position must coordinate with appropriate groups (including Akron HQ) to complete certain routine monthly financial closing and analysis activities while managing local finance personnel to ensure completion of closing and analysis activities at the plant level. This position also serves as a partner with the Plant Leadership Team and other manufacturing finance leadership to ensure that plant and finance goals and objectives are achieved and to develop people resources.


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the monthly/quarterly financial reporting and special analyses at the manufacturing plant. Ensure processes are compliant with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company Policy. Manage local annual physical inventory process.
    • Ensure that a robust internal control structure is in place, functioning effectively, and regularly tested by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Ensure that identified control and internal audit gaps are remediated on a timely basis.
    • Local oversight of the Standard cost-setting process. Responsible for material cost information.
    • Involved in developing talent for the Accounting organization, including the development of professionals within the business and succession planning for key roles.
    • Understand and have the ability to summarize and communicate the Accounting statements and operating results of the plants to measure progress against objectives and assess the effectiveness of decisions made.


    Required Education and Experience:

    • Undergraduate Degree with a concentration in a business-related field, such as Accounting, Finance, or economics.
    • A minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in accounting / financial analysis, preferably in a plant setting.
    • People leadership experience is preferred.


    Desired Skills and Abilities:

    • Thorough understanding of US GAAP, accounting for complex transactions, and internal controls in compliance with SOX.
    • Preferred "Change management" experience, focused on getting large groups "on board" with new processes and techniques.
    • Excellent leadership, consulting, coaching, training, organization, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Knowledge of relevant systems (ERP systems with SAP preferred, MS Office, Hyperion, etc.
    • High level of understanding of how key accounting decisions impact the business units and forecasted operating results/cash flows.
    • Able to analyze and grasp a situation quickly from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions.
