Are you a hands-on, analytically strong finance leader ready to make an impact? As our Controller, you will own the company's accounting, cash management, and financial reporting during an exciting phase of growth. This role combines strategic leadership with tactical execution, reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with Operations, Sales, and HR.
You'll lead a small team while staying deeply involved in closing the books, managing cash, and building forecasts that drive smart business decisions. Key responsibilities:
Accounting & Reporting: Own the general ledger and full month-end/year-end close for timely, accurate results.
Prepare financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with variance analysis.
Deliver management and board reports in clear, decision-focused formats.
Maintain reconciliations for key accounts: cash, AR/AP, inventory/WIP, fixed assets, debt.
Ensure GAAP compliance and documented accounting policies.
Cash Management & Treasury: Oversee daily and weekly cash management, including inflows/outflows.
Maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast tied to operations and capital needs.
Manage banking relationships, covenant reporting, and financing activities.
Cost & Inventory Accounting: Lead cost accounting, job costing, WIP tracking, and variance analysis.
Partner with Operations to ensure accurate labor, material, and overhead capture.
Oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, and reconciliation.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Drive annual budgeting and reforecasting.
Build financial models for investments and major opportunities.
Develop KPI dashboards for leadership: revenue/margin trends, SG&A, working capital metrics.
Controls & Compliance: Maintain practical internal controls across revenue, purchasing, payables, payroll, and inventory.
Oversee tax compliance and year-end reporting.
Systems & Process Improvement: Own the ERP system (Aptean Made2Manage) and improve financial processes.
Streamline workflows to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
Leadership & Team Development: Lead and coach a small finance team, setting clear expectations and standards.
Establish financial rhythms (KPIs, monthly reviews) to drive accountability.
