Jennie Joiner is assisting a Eugene manufacturing company to fill a Plant Controller position
Location: Eugene, OR
Employment Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (some flexibility)
Remote: Onsite with hybrid potential (1 day/week after ramp-up)
Compensation: $150,000 + 10–20% annual bonus
Requirements: Background check, drug screen (THC not allowed)
Position Overview
A dynamic and growing Eugene-based manufacturing facility is seeking a Plant Controller with deep expertise in cost accounting, inventory oversight, and operational financial analysis. This role is critical in improving plant performance visibility and ensuring accurate, GAAP-compliant reporting. You'll work closely with the VP of Finance and cross-functional teams to track variances, optimize inventory controls, and deliver insights that drive operational and financial success.
What You'll Do
Cost Accounting & Operations Support
- Own standard costing, BOM management, and variance analysis
- Analyze labor, materials, and overhead performance
- Support production and plant leadership with real-time financial insights
- Lead re-costing and cost improvement initiatives
Inventory Oversight & Controls
- Oversee inventory valuation (raw materials, WIP, finished goods, spare parts)
- Identify process gaps and discrepancies in inventory movement or costing
- Implement tracking systems for warehouse scanning and parts issuance
- Conduct inventory audits and drive process improvements
Reporting & Business Partnering
- Deliver monthly financial reports and weekly plant forecasts
- Support capital expenditure reviews and post-investment analysis
- Collaborate with operations, quality, supply chain, and maintenance leaders
- Identify reporting opportunities using Power BI, SQL, or similar tools
Compliance & Leadership
- Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls
- Maintain ERP integrity and participate in system upgrades (MS Dynamics/Nav)
- Confidently communicate concerns, flag discrepancies, and advocate for resolution
- Support succession planning; potential to build a small team over time
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of plant Controller experience including cost accounting in a manufacturing setting
- Deep knowledge of standard costing, BOMs, variance analysis
- Strong ERP experience
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance
- Advanced Excel + comfort with reporting tools (Power BI, SQL, etc.)
- Able to spend ~25% of time on the production floor
