Plant Costing & Budget Optimization Manager

Nashville, TN

  • Responsibilities

We’re looking for a Cost Manager who doesn’t just maintain numbers—they rebuild systems from the ground up.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in environments with complexity, fragmented data, and the chance to lead real transformation across multiple business units.

This isn’t about tweaking spreadsheets. It’s about:

    • Rebuilding the cost structure across plants and product lines—no legacy templates to lean on.

    • Validating and repairing BOMs, routings, and labor standards by partnering with operations and engineering.

    • Calculating and maintaining accurate labor and overhead rates, including conducting time studies to get it right.

    • Owning cost rolls, variance analysis, and margin drivers—you’re not just inputting data, you’re interpreting it.

    • Being the bridge between finance and operations, fluent in both languages and confident working across functions.

    • Fixing broken data ahead of a major ERP transition (Infor system, moving from Sightline to LN).

    • Driving trust in the numbers—your work directly impacts critical business decisions.

    •
    • You won’t just influence the budget—you’ll define the foundation of it.
    • Own the cost data that feeds annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and monthly reforecasts.

    • Work with FP&A, plant finance, and ops to ensure clean inputs and accurate allocations.

    • Investigate variances and explain the why, not just the what.

    • Help the business close the loop between expectations and actuals.

    ? You’ll thrive here if:

    • You naturally question bad data and back it up with proof.

    • You’ve built or rebuilt cost systems before—and you like getting your hands dirty.

    • You’re not intimidated by chaos—you get fired up by it.

    • You want to be a partner to the business, not just a back-office resource.

  • Compensation
    $110,000-$130,000 per year
