SUMMARY:
The Plant Manager will provide the necessary leadership to plan, direct, organize, coordinate, and control the safe mining/production of shippable product in a manner to meet sales requests on a timely and cost-efficient basis. They will develop and oversee processes that maximize the organization’s overall strategy, safety, quality, and productivity. They are responsible for establishing a culture that supports safety while also identify workplace hazards, assess risks, and conduct job safety analyses. They will ensure compliance with all company federal, and state regulatory policies and procedures. They will also observe, mentor, coach and develop team members to maximize their job capabilities, and ensure competencies of programs/policies, applications, and use.
Compensation: $135,000 - $150,000 base salary, company vehicle, comprehensive medical benefits, relocation assistance and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage all aspects of aggregate production to include quarry development, operations, maintenance, screening, material handling and mobile equipment, subcontractors, safety program, environmental and community relations.
Manage the day to day operations of the group in the production of quality material at or below production cost; coordinate and supervise the daily activities of employees in the production of aggregate material in a mining environment.
Coordinate maintenance projects, service work, and repairs to ensure proper utilization and maintenance of all equipment so that costs and downtime are minimized, and all equipment is available when needed. Improve plant availability and uptime through proactive measures and planned maintenance.
Manage throughput, oversee all plant gradations, follow/established procedures for operating various conventional production tasks to produce quality aggregate material.
Participate in mine planning and equipment evaluations.
Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations.
Ensure team members are skilled in the expected tasks to be performed, equipment is operated safely and efficiently, and proper communication is occurring between all areas of the plant.
Improve plant availability and uptime through proactive measures and planned maintenance.
Lead meetings included but not limited to safety, production, maintenance and manpower.
Participate in company safety inspections as well as MSHA inspections; develop a strong safety culture at the location and manage improvements to safety performance including reducing regulatory citations, incidents, accidents and lower severity injuries etc.
Foster an environment where continuous process improvement initiatives are promoted.
Complete special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
10+ years of management experience in construction aggregates, industrial minerals or similar mining and material processing type operations.
Strong understanding of equipment used in mining and mineral processing, including capabilities, limitations, productive capacity, proper maintenance etc.
Must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in supervising subordinates. These tasks include but are not limited to interviewing, delegating responsibilities and tasks, performance evaluations, counseling, and disciplining.
Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency and minimize operational variability/volatility, reduce defect rates etc.
Ability to improve long-term cost of production through preventative maintenance, process improvements, equipment selection, planning etc.
Working knowledge and understanding of MSHA regulations and posses a strong personal commitment to safety.
Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; must posses strong planning skills.
Ability to lead, manage and motivate with a proven track record for creating employee ownership of safety, production and quality.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field a plus.
Competence in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software or equivalent.
