Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Plant Manager with Procurement Responsibilities to oversee daily operations at our food trailer manufacturing facility. This hybrid role requires a strong leader who can manage plant activities—including production scheduling, team supervision, and quality control—while also leading all procurement and supply chain functions to ensure materials are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant Management:
· Oversee all daily operations of the trailer manufacturing plant, including production scheduling, staffing, and workflow management.
· Supervise production teams, welders, fabricators, assemblers, and support staff to ensure output meets quality and delivery standards.
· Develop and enforce production schedules to meet customer delivery deadlines
· Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and quality assurance practices.
· Drive process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives to boost productivity and reduce downtime and waste.
· Track and report on plant KPIs such as output, efficiency, waste, and quality control metrics.
Procurement & Supply Chain:
· Manage procurement of raw materials, trailer components, tools, and equipment in alignment with production schedules.
· Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best terms for quality, cost, and delivery.
· Maintain accurate inventory levels, initiate purchase orders, and minimize material shortages or overstock.
· Evaluate supplier performance and seek out new vendors as needed to support growth or improve quality/cost.
· Work closely with the finance team to manage procurement budgets and cost controls.
· Collaborate with sales and operation teams to ensure design and material specifications meet manufacturing requirements.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience (5+ years) in manufacturing plant management, preferably in custom fabrication or trailer production.
· Solid experience in procurement or supply chain management, with vendor negotiation and inventory control expertise.
· Excellent leadership and team management skills.
· Understanding of fabrication, welding, assembly, and trailer-specific manufacturing processes.
· Working knowledge of manufacturing software (ERP/MRP systems) and inventory management tools.
· Solid understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and lean manufacturing principles.
· High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Excellent organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Experience in the trailer, mobile kitchen, or specialty vehicle industry.
· Familiarity with DOT regulations and trailer industry standards.
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, eligible for incentive bonus, plus benefits including health insurance allowance, PTO, and 401K plan.
