Job Summary:
The Plant Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations. This role collaborates with the EHS Director, plant leadership, and employees to foster a strong safety culture and reduce workplace injuries and incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations
· Lead safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations
· Conduct regular training and safety meetings to educate employees on best safety practices
· Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards through regular monitoring and reporting
· Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs
· Collaborate with HR, Maintenance, and Production teams to identify and correct hazardous conditions or behaviors
· Maintain safety documentation, including incident logs, training records, and inspection reports
· Recommend improvements to existing safety systems and suggest new initiatives to enhance plant safety
· Stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends in health and safety
· Serve as a point of contact for front-line safety concerns and support on-site resolution in coordination with the EHS Director & Plant Manager
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
· 5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, industrial plant, or construction setting
· Knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, and other safety standards
· Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
· Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, ASP, OSHA 30/OSHA 500) is a plus
· Valid driver’s license required
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
· Work is performed in an industrial facility, including time in control areas and field conditions with exposure to noise, dust, heat, outdoor elements, and operational hazards
· May involve standing or sitting for extended periods, bending, climbing, using hand tools, and working around heavy equipment or machinery
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights or in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks
· Use of communication devices or computer systems may be required, depending on job function
· PPE must be worn and all safety protocols followed
