Job Summary
The Plant Systems Engineer (Gas Power) will support the performance, troubleshooting, and optimization of power generation systems, with a focus on gas turbines, auxiliary equipment, and plant controls. This associate-level position is ideal for a technically strong candidate who understands mechanical and electrical systems, monitors plant performance, and assists with system reliability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and support daily operations of gas turbine systems and auxiliary plant equipment
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues across plant systems
- Collect and analyze operating data (temperatures, pressures, flows) to identify performance trends
- Support preventative and corrective maintenance efforts
- Maintain documentation for system status, outages, inspections, and repair logs
- Collaborate with operations staff and senior engineers on reliability and efficiency improvements
- Review and update P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control system schematics
- Ensure plant compliance with safety, operational, and environmental standards
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Plant Technology
- 3–6 years of experience in gas power generation or industrial plant systems
- Understanding of turbines, pumps, piping systems, electrical controls, and plant instrumentation
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, P&IDs, technical manuals, and performance logs
- Skilled in technical troubleshooting and operations support
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, CMMS, or basic control systems
- Willingness to work in an active plant environment and respond to system issues as needed
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30 Certification
- First Aid/CPR
- Turbine OEM Training (GE, Siemens, Solar Turbines, etc.)
- NCCER Mechanical or Instrumentation Certification
