  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

    Researches, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Responsible for the coordination, planning and execution of engineering projects including but not limited to platform BOM/configuration support, electromechanical sub-system development, component design, obsolescence support, platform improvements, customer continuous improvement initiatives and customer escalations.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Designs products or systems such as vacuum chambers, controls, robots, material handling, electrode structures, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems to interface machines, hardware, and software
    • Plans, designs, and directs drafting group in development of methods and procedures for documenting products or systems
    • Drive all portions of assigned engineering projects coordinating with applicable engineers and other departments to ensure proper execution of the plan.
    • Ability to define project scope, define success criteria, prepare and monitor schedules, and execute the plan to meet stake holder expectation.
    • Conduct routine project update meetings reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assists in coordination and participation of testing activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design specifications.
    • Understands and follows departmental engineering processes
    • Coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
    • Develops new vendors for specialized production parts and procedures
    • Originate material specifications as to type, grade, heat treating, surface finish, etc.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

     None

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering and minimum of four years of work experience in mechanical engineering

    OR

    Master’s Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering and minimum of two years of work experience in mechanical engineering

    PREFERRED

    Minimum two years of experience with semiconductor capital equipment experience; preferable with an automation background

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Advanced Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD knowledge; working ability with AutoCAD
    • Working knowledge of integrated systems to include electronics and all mechanical assemblies
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, BOMs, manufacturing documentation systems, and other related material
    • Ability to interpret, drawings, schematics, technical journals and papers, and other related material
    • Excellent Communication skills
    • Familiarity with current industry standards; NEC, OSHA, SEMI, etc
    • Ability to develop technical reports and present technical material
    • ERP (Epicor) knowledge, helpful, but not required
    • Knowledge of systems and software necessary to perform job function such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, ERP System
    • Project management experience
    • Effective written and oral communication skills

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing laboratory, and support areas such as production, test, and stockroom.
    • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, touch, see, and hear. The incumbent may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
    • While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.  The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions. Must be able to work on production floor, laboratory in the field or at customer site without physical impediments. Vision correctable to 20/20 and ability to hear with corrective devices.
