OPERATIONS MANAGER, PRODUCTION MANAGER

• PAY: Up to$110K base + performance bonus + relocation package
• LOCATION: Atlanta, GA area (location is the first thing discussed on phone with me, to ID commute)
• APPROPRIATE BACKGROUNDS: Blown film, cast film plastic extrusion lines (20+), Plastic Extruded Films Converting and/or bag making: both plastic film extrusion (blown or cast) and film converting is needed to enter candidacy for this role. The specific plastic flexible packaging industry into which end products were sold - plastic food packaging, plastic industrial flexible packaging, etc. - is not of concern for this role. Rather, the company needs a manager who can drive results while building a good relationship / rapport with the hourly workforce. ISO 9001 and 14001 experience would be preferred.

THE COMPANY & THE PLANT

The hiring company is a food and consumer plastic flexible packaging manufacturer with heavy corporate R&D and engineering support. They often bring exciting new plastic flexible packaging products to the market and maintain themselves ahead of the pack that attempt to gain market share in their space. The overall company’s equipment includes blown film extrusion, flexographic printing, and plastic film converting lines. This plant runs more cast film than blown film. Downstream, this plant has online and offline plastic film converting and bag making equipment. This is a mid-sized plastic flexible packaging plant with roughly 250 employees running 24/7 on 4 shifts. The company has roughly 30 plants across North America and sells products globally - almost all plastic films manufacturing professionals know of this company.

THE JOB: OPERATIONS MANAGER, PRODUCTION MANAGER, PLANT MANAGER, CONVERTING DEPARTMENT MANAGER, PRESS MANAGER

You will have budget responsibility over the plastic extrusion and converting departments and will some shared P&L responsibility with the director of operations. Your main goal is to drive the plant’s KPI’s including safety, quality, cost & delivery. You will drive continuous improvement projects and cost reduction initiatives throughout the plant’s departments. This is not a role that is hands-on with plastic film processing equipment, yet previous experience with such machinery will be highly valued for in-the-moment training opportunities. The reason for this opening will be discussed on the phone. One of the challenges of this position will be to build rapport with the hourly work force. On the flip side, this should be seen as low hanging fruit for the correct candidate. The company is looking for someone who can focus on giving the workforce their ‘why’ in regard to driving KPI’s. I.e. folks need to like working for you, but you need to make them work hard and efficiently - in very nutshell layperson’s terms.

REQUIREMENTS

• 4 year degree preferred, not required.
• (Required) Plastic Film Extrusion (blown film or cast film extrusion)
• (Required) Film converting and/or plastic bag making experience
• Have supervised or managed a team of 6+ in a plastic extrusion manufacturing plant.
• (Preferred) Stretch film and cast film extrusion. If you're purely blown film with no stretch, that works, too.
