    Plato BioPharma, Inc. (PBI), a pre-clinical drug discovery and development contract research organization (CRO) supporting the research needs of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical sector is seeking a Formulation Technician.  The right candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working to time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining industry standards in accordance with PBI's standard operating procedures.  

    JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The Formulation Technician will be experienced in performing moderately complex laboratory techniques and be responsible for preparing test article dosage solutions/suspensions for administration to research rodents. The successful candidate will follow all established procedures and SOPs, identify and resolve anomalies/issues while conducting formulations, and maintain all chain of custody documentation and chemical inventories. Individuals must demonstrate strong technical aptitude and organizational and communication skills while being able to work efficiently in individual and team settings.

    • Perform preparation of test article/substance dosage solutions/suspensions inclusive of all vehicle preparations
    • Assist in setting up calculations and verifying preparation of test materials prior to dose administration
    • Prepare labels, vials, tubes and other dosing solutions items
    • Assign test and control material ID numbers.
    • Pack, inventory and organize return test materials and analytical samples to sponsor.
    • Assist in preparing responses to both internal and external quality assurance audits.
    • Assist in study start up procedures requiring cross departmental interaction with all key study personnel.
    • Assist the department Manager/Supervisor and Research Staff (InVivo & In Vitro) in the execution of study-related activities required across all studies
    • Promote inter- and intra-departmental communication to facilitate and maximize research project performance.
    • Prepare and record research and compound preparation data in compliance with study protocols, formulation memos and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Work with scientific staff to develop new techniques and/or processes.
    • Contribute to department operational improvement in areas such as SOP revisions, department inspections, and equipment maintenance.
    • Assist with other activities as necessary to meet the needs of all ongoing studies.
    • Ensure departmental equipment is maintained in good working condition and that departmental area(s) are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
    • Serve as a model as it relates to effective time management, communication and utilization of resources.
    • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Must be able to work in a laboratory setting with direct exposure to laboratory animals
    • May work with potentially hazardous substances not limited to known /potential teratogens or carcinogens and/or radiolabeled test materials
    • Work will require PPE (personal protective equipment)
    • Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently
    • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
    • Accurately calculate and record numbers
    • Good teamwork skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
    • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel)

    MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Requires at least a BS degree in related scientific discipline with 1-3 years of applicable laboratory experience.
    • A basic understanding of chemistry and discovery pharmacology is essential.
    • Understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the animal research field.
    • Level of position & compensation will be commensurate with experience.

    JOB TYPE:

    • Non-Exempt full-time 40+ hours a week

    ANNUAL PAY RANGE (BASED ON FULL-TIME 40 HOURS PER WEEK)

    Base Pay Rate Range: $22-$36 per hour

    PBI takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
