  • Responsibilities

    The In Vitro Biology and Biomarker (IVBM) group is seeking a Research Associate to conduct basic science research in the areas of Cardiac, Cardiovascular and Renal Physiology and Pharmacology. The position also requires demonstrated ability to perform simple and complex biochemical analyses for measuring cardiac, cardiovascular, hepatic, and renal system organ function.  Desired experience includes Clinical Chemistry, Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and histology/microscopy.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in maintaining laboratory and freezer inventories
    • Routine Clinical Chemistry and ELISA
    • Experimental planning and execution with adherence to company standards and procedures
    • Storage and recording of PBI Biobank study samples and tissues
    • Operates and helps maintain laboratory equipment
    • Assist in optimization and validation of experimental procedures and reporting
    • Entering and auditing experimental data and presentation of results
    • Timely delivery of all client and internal data as directed
    • Proactive communication with team members and the PBI In Vivo Department
    • Performs literary and web-based searches of current methods and technologies

    MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    The preferred candidate will have experience in the area of biochemistry and/or physiology.

    • Bachelor's degree in related scientific discipline is required.
    • Laboratory experience – academic and/or industrial – is preferred.
    • Expertise in immunological assays including ELISA and Western Blot is preferred.
    • Expertise in one or more of the following is a plus: Quantigene mRNA/protein plex assays, Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) protein assays, and/or histological imaging/analyses.

    COMPETENCIES:

    • The selected candidate will have good planning and organizational skills, and be able to analyze and present data effectively, with a clear scientific understanding.
    • Strong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills for presentation of results and delivery of data and required reports.
    • Self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize time effectively
    • Exercise rigor, accountability and responsibility when performing tasks
    • Must actively participate in our collaborative, team-oriented environment.
    • Ability to observe safety and security procedures.
    • Ability to assist with other tasks/duties as needed in a small company environment.
    • Level of position & compensation will be commensurate with experience.

    JOB TYPE:

    Exempt full-time 40+ hours a week

    ANNUAL SALARY RANGE (BASED ON FULL-TIME 40 HOURS PER WEEK)

    Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $85,000

    PBI takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
