This is a fast-paced job and will require solid organizational skills and the ability to multi-task • You will report directly to the firm owner. There will be opportunities to brainstorm, collaborate, and be mentored, but you should also value the opportunity to work independently. • You will have flexibility and control over your schedule, where you work, and how you complete your assignments. • You will creatively strategize plans and solutions for your cases and clearly delegate tasks to our legal team, explaining what they need to do (and why). This will ensure each case progresses through the firm’s pipeline while maintaining top-notch quality standards. We all like being rewarded for our contributions. • If you are hired, you will work with a team of awesome people who work hard to get the job done right the first time and take pride in the work we do. • Finally, we are trial lawyers. You should be committed to investing time to read about and learn how to keep becoming the best trial lawyer you can. There are always new techniques and strategies available to the ambitious, curious, and persistent trial lawyer. We will provide mentorship and training because we want you to develop and hone these skills in addition to the actual casework You need to be comfortable doing this stuff: • Investigate criminal cases and provide legal advice to prospective clients. • Communicate effectively and professionally with our staff, clients, opposing counsel, law enforcement, and experts. • Consistently document case status in the firm's case management system. • Research case law, statutes, rules, and forensic science. • Draft or review/edit motions, briefs, and discovery requests. • Attend scheduled court hearings and argue motions. • Cross-examine or depose experts, other parties, and witnesses. • Negotiate and resolve cases before trial while maximizing the best outcomes for our clients. • Prepare cases for a jury trial and try them from start to finish, Qualifications: • Self-confident. • Full of initiative. • Driven to finish. • A boss at calendaring and meeting deadlines. • Five years of litigation and trial experience. • Up-to-date knowledge of criminal defense litigation (including statutes and case law), and legal terminology. • Ongoing willingness to learn and apply new trial techniques. • Superb research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills. • Admission to the Wyoming bar or willing to obtain a WY bar license in short order. • Comfortable with computers and learning new technology or software. Compensation: $100,000+ DOE + bonus
