    At Born to Run, our Playgroup Leaders are reliable, energetic, dog loving team members, and an integral part of our outdoor play yard staff. This role is responsible for leading and engaging with dogs in our outdoor environment, ensuring their safety, happiness, and well-being. You’ll spend most of your day outside—rain or shine—monitoring playgroups, facilitating activities, and maintaining a clean, secure space for our canine clients.

    Job Description · Provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment for dogs.

    · Ensure the health and safety of client dogs and BTR staff are monitored constantly and consistently.

    · Engage, supervise, and manage group dog play.

    · Ensure safety and cleanliness of yard and play areas throughout the day.

    · Send daycare dogs home safe, satisfied, and clean.

    · Keep BTR team updated on activities and incidents in the yard.

    · Clearly and efficiently communicate all important details to front staff ensuring accurate reporting to clients.

    · Actively participate in enrichment activities for guests and evaluations of potential new clients.

    · Practice and encourage good manners from all dogs, even working on obedience commands.

    · Seek out further training/skill advancement for dog behavior, dog training, dog healthcare, and dog enrichment. BTR is happy to pay for further education that we cannot provide in-house.

    · Be an asset to the BTR Team and help out where and when needed.

    · Help to further the goal of BTR, to be the BEST daycare there is.

    Basic Job Duties · Be an active and engaged leader to group play.

    · Ensure that all dogs stay safe and comfortable in their surroundings. Make changes and/or ask for help to maintain the highest standards of care and inclusion of all dogs. Redirect or remove dogs from playgroup as needed.

    · Immediately report to management any dog that seems ill or is exhibiting odd behavior.

    · Single out dogs for some one-on-one attention. Build a relationship with the dogs.

    · Build a relationship with each dog that includes friendship and play, but also includes a respect for authority.

    · Keep yard tidy during shift and organized at end of shift by returning items to their designated areas.

    · Ensure thorough passdown notes to communicate clearly. Include notes about dogs’ health, demeanor, eating, eliminating, and playtime activities and interactions.

    · Ensure drinking water bowls and buckets are clean and full at all times, both in the play areas and in the crates.

    · General cleaning duties, both inside and outside. This includes sweeping, mopping, dishes, crate-cleaning, taking out trash, laundry, cleaning play toys and equipment, removing trash from front and back yards, etc.

    · Assist with enrichment activities.

    · Maintain organization and cleanliness daily.

    · Check crates of overnight guests daily for cleanliness and dryness.

    · Brushing and bathing dogs.

    · Prepare and feed dog meals with special attention that each dog is getting the appropriate amount along with any medications.

    · Accurately administer and properly document medications.

    · Keep refillable items filled (soap dispensers, spray bottles, treat bins, naproom water jugs).

    · Help get dog’s personal items gathered for their pickup. Ensure they leave with all personal items.

    · Help clean up dogs to go home.

    · Anything that management deems necessary throughout the day.

    Hours are flexible. Shifts range

    Qualifications

    Must be comfortable working with animals of all sizes and types

    Must be comfortable working on your feet for long periods of time outdoors

    Familiarity with basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite
