We are dedicated to delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-performance building systems while maintaining a strong commitment to code compliance, water efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Our collaborative team of engineers and designers is passionate about creating forward-thinking solutions that enhance building performance, conserve resources, and bring lasting value to our clients and communities.

    Job Description:

As a Plumbing Engineer at 120 Degreez, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and coordination of plumbing systems for a wide range of building types. You will work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and code-compliant plumbing system designs.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise, collaborate on diverse and challenging projects, and contribute to the continued growth and success of our MEP team.

    Responsibilities:

    Design & Planning

Develop detailed plumbing design concepts, system layouts, and calculations for domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, and specialty systems.

Prepare comprehensive drawings, riser diagrams, schematics, and specifications in Revit and AutoCAD that adhere to firm standards and applicable codes.

Collaborate closely with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure seamless MEP coordination.

Integrate sustainable design strategies and water-efficient technologies aligned with CALGreen, Title 24, and LEED requirements.

    System Analysis

Perform flow, pressure, and drainage calculations to ensure optimal system performance and code compliance.

Analyze system efficiency and evaluate innovative plumbing technologies such as greywater recovery, rainwater harvesting, and low-flow fixtures.

Support design studies, feasibility analyses, and cost comparisons to assist clients in selecting the best system solutions.

    Technical Documentation

Prepare design documents, construction drawings, and specifications for permit and bid submittals.

Develop equipment schedules, technical reports, and design narratives that communicate system intent and performance criteria.

Ensure documentation complies with the California Plumbing Code (CPC), NFPA, CALGreen, and applicable local jurisdictional standards.

    Project Coordination & Execution

Coordinate plumbing design activities with other disciplines throughout all project phases.

Review RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings to confirm conformance with design intent and specifications.

Attend design coordination and client meetings, providing clear technical guidance and progress updates.

Assist in cost estimation, scheduling, and resource allocation for assigned project scopes.

    Quality Assurance & Compliance

Conduct internal design reviews to verify quality, consistency, and code compliance.

Perform site visits to document existing conditions and observe installation progress during construction.

Work with QA/QC teams to maintain a high level of technical integrity and accuracy across deliverables.

    Client Engagement & Support

Serve as a technical resource for clients, providing responsive communication and design support.

Collaborate with project managers and leadership on proposals, technical presentations, and business development initiatives.

    Professional Growth & Development

Stay current with evolving codes, water conservation practices, and sustainable plumbing design technologies.

Pursue continuing education, certifications, and licensure to advance professional development and career growth.

    Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Plumbing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

4–8 years of plumbing design experience in building systems; MEP consulting background strongly preferred.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination tools.

Thorough knowledge of the California Plumbing Code (CPC), California Building Code, NFPA, CALGreen, and related standards.

Understanding of plumbing system design principles, including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, and storm drainage systems.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary project teams.

California PE license preferred (or ability and motivation to obtain licensure).

Experience with sustainable design practices, LEED documentation, or water-efficient technologies is a plus.

    Benefits:

    Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.

    401(k) retirement plan.

Paid Time Off (PTO) and company holidays.
