    A growing company is seeking an experienced Plumbing & Fire Sprinkler Designer to join their team.

    The ideal candidate will have several years of hands-on experience with plumbing, mechanical, sprinkler, and building systems, along with strong knowledge of NYC DOB and DEP processes, filings, objections, and approvals.

    Responsibilities

    • Design plumbing systems for commercial and residential projects.
    • Prepare, review, and revise engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
    • Handle NYC DOB filings, approvals, and resolution of DOB objections.
    • Prepare and coordinate DEP applications, site connection permits, and cross-connection control submissions.
    • Review and respond to DEP objections, ensuring timely approvals and compliance.
    • Design and coordinate site connection and cross-connection systems in accordance with NYC DEP requirements.
    • Coordinate with architects, contractors, expeditors, consultants, and project teams throughout all phases of a project.
    • Ensure all designs comply with NYC Building Code, Plumbing Code, Mechanical Code, Fire Code, and DEP regulations.
    • Review plumbing, HVAC, sprinkler, and mechanical system designs for accuracy and code compliance.
    • Troubleshoot design and field issues during construction and project execution.
    • Attend project meetings and provide technical support to clients and stakeholders.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

    Requirements

    • 4+ years of experience as a Plumbing Designer required.
    • Strong knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, sprinkler, and mechanical systems.
    • Experience with NYC DOB filings, approvals, and objection resolution required.
    • Experience preparing and obtaining DEP site connection approvals and cross-connection control approvals required.
    • Proven ability to address and resolve DEP objections and permit-related issues.
    • Strong understanding of NYC Building Codes, DEP regulations, and industry standards.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and related engineering software.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and review architectural and construction plans.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of taking ownership of projects from concept through approval and construction.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
    • Experience working on commercial, multifamily, and mixed-use developments.
    • Familiarity with permit expediting and agency coordination processes.
    • Experience coordinating with utility providers and city agencies.
