    Job Description

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title: Assistant Plumbing Instructor (Entry level position)

    Classification: Non-exempt / Full Time

    Salary: DOE/Benefits upon completion of 90 days.

    JOB SUMMARY

    Assist Plumbing Instructor in day-to-day classroom and hands-on shop exercises, including proctoring exams per the provided curriculum. Classes may have up to 20 adult students. Assist in maintaining training programs.

    SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Attend and participate in plumber training classes, including classwork and hands-on exercises.
    • Assist in teaching classes; curriculum development and training laboratory upgrades.
    • Follow lesson plan binder; with instructions, text and codebook references and quizzes due for each half of each semester for each Apprentice grade level per direction by the Master Instructor.
    • Maintain training labs, equipment, and supplies. Ensure that the labs are clean, well lit, and held to the highest level of safety standards and perform weekly safety checks.
    • Maintain relationships with vendors for trainings and apprentice sponsorship for various events.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team player, self-motivated, with strong leadership skills.
    • Ability and willingness to follow procedures; reporting and compliance processes; identify improvements and make changes.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • High school diploma or a GED Certificate.
    • Must be willing to follow through with California Dept of Education certification procedures in a timely manner.
    • Commercial and residential construction experience is required, with plumbing preferred. Service and repair experience considered a plus.
    • Experience with teaching considered a plus.
    • Apprenticeship experience a plus.
    • AutoCAD knowledge a plus.

    ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Leadership and time management skills.
    • Strong computer and organizational skills.
    • Basic knowledge with Adobe products, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
    • Written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Bending, reaching, lifting various materials (up to 40 lbs.), sitting and standing for long periods of time, using office equipment and computers. Safe operation and use of standard office equipment, including sharp objects. Able to communicate by phone, e-mail and in-person to small and large groups. Accuracy and concentration are required, sometimes with multiple distractions in the immediate area. The position requires travel with some evening and weekend work, and driving a personal vehicle. Mileage is reimbursed per the current IRS rate at the time of travel.
