A design-build mechanical and plumbing contractor in the Kansas City metro is seeking a Plumbing/Piping Detailer to join our design-build team. This role builds accurate 3D models of plumbing and piping systems in Revit MEP and coordinates them with other trades. Your models and spool drawings feed our in-house fabrication shop and field crews, so accuracy and on-time delivery matter every day.

Key Responsibilities - Plumbing/Piping Detailer
- Build and maintain accurate 3D models of plumbing and piping systems in Revit MEP, including equipment, valves, and supports. Follow company BIM standards and project requirements.
- Run clash detection in Navisworks and resolve conflicts with HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and structural trades. Attend coordination meetings and track issues to closure.
- Produce spool drawings, shop drawings, and installation layouts for the fabrication shop and field crews. Verify dimensions, materials, and fittings before release.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to align models with schedule and constructability. Update models as design changes and RFIs come in.
- Manage model files, version control, and data exchange in BIM 360 or similar platforms. Keep documentation current through project closeout.
Qualifications - Plumbing/Piping Detailer
- Associate degree or higher in drafting, design, or CADD.
- 3+ years of experience detailing or modeling plumbing and piping systems for a mechanical or plumbing contractor.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of plumbing and piping layout and routing principles. Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Meticulous approach to model accuracy, documentation, and deadlines across multiple projects. Clear communication with technical and field staff.
Preferred Qualifications - Plumbing BIM Detailer
- 5+ years of piping detailing experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Experience with BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or another common data environment.
- Experience detailing for prefabrication, including AutoCAD Fabrication (CADmep) and spool sheets.
- Field experience as a plumber or pipefitter.
- Working knowledge of plumbing codes and industrial process piping.
Physical Requirements - Plumbing/Piping Detailer
- Office-based role with extended periods of sitting and computer work.
- Periodic jobsite visits for field verification, including walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and wearing standard PPE.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- On-site, full-time day shift with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
- Local travel to active jobsites within the region, with no overnight travel expected.
