Position Overview
BigDeal by Codie Sanchez — a top 10 business podcast and top 100 overall podcast on Spotify USA — is looking for an Podcast Growth Marketer to take our rapidly growing show to the next level. We're organically achieving millions of views and downloads, and the Podcast Growth Marketer will work directly with the Executive Producer to add jet fuel to the fire.
The Opportunity
Codie Sanchez is the fastest rising voice in business, investing, and media, with over 12m+ online followers. We have the content, the audience foundation, and the credibility. What we need is someone obsessed with the gap between where we are and where we should be. Someone who doesn't just run campaigns, but instead thinks like a growth engineer. We're not looking for a traditional marketing mind, you are here to be tastefully unhinged, doing everything in your power to convert passerby viewers to regulars and to shift culture. This role is for someone ambitious, creative, and ready to experiment.
Growth is your product.
- Zeitgeist positioning. You understand what's happening in culture (IRL and online) right now. You spot trends before they're obvious, and tap us in. You position our show at the intersection of what matters and what's happening. You get our show into conversations, podcasts lists, and cultural moments.
- Obsessive analysis. You don't just track metrics, you interrogate them. Why did that episode outperform? What changed? What signal are we missing? You live in the data.
- Distribution innovation. You work directly with our Executive Producer not to just upload and hope. You're constantly testing channels: YouTube clips, short-form content, strategic partnerships, cross-platform syndication, guest appearances on other shows, newsletter integration, community leverage. You're running 10 experiments simultaneously, killing what doesn't work, doubling down on what does.
- Listener journey mapping. You understand the full funnel: how someone discovers the podcast, what makes them subscribe, what makes them share, what converts them from listener to community member or customer. You're constantly optimizing every touchpoint.
- Format and content iteration. You work closely with our Executive Producer and creative team to find outlier topics, bring trending guests and ideas.
- Speed and experimentation. You move fast. You test ideas weekly. You measure results. You kill bad experiments quickly. You double down on winners. You ship, learn, iterate, repeat.
Example month:
- Analyzed download data and realized a certain episode type (case study deep dives) outperforms by 35%. Immediately restructured the content pipeline and guest strategy around that insight. Brought the data to the Executive Producer. Together, you redesigned the next month's episode roadmap.
- Tested 12 different clip distribution strategies across TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Found that LinkedIn clips are driving 5x the traffic to the full episode. Allocated resources there. Worked with your short-form and long-form editors to build a production workflow that prioritizes LinkedIn-optimized clips without compromising quality.
- Identified that listeners from newsletter intro mention convert to subscribers at 3x the rate of other sources. Proposed a new integration strategy with our newsletter team. Designed the rollout. Your long-form editors restructured how they position the show in written content to amplify the effect.
- Mapped the listener journey and found a major drop-off at the 30-minute mark on longer episodes. Tested shorter formats. Worked with the Executive Producer on pacing and structure. Your editors tightened episodes accordingly. Retention improved 22%.
What sets the Podcast Growth Marketer role apart is that you're not running a podcast marketing department. You're running the growth engine of a media company. And you're embedded in an elite creative team.
- Direct partnership with the Executive Producer. The Executive Producer shapes the show's creative direction. You bring the growth data. Together, you make decisions about format, episode length, guest strategy, and positioning. You sit in planning meetings. You influence the roadmap. You're aligned from the start.
- World-class short-form and long-form editors. You work with editors who understand distribution across platforms. Your short-form editors turn podcast moments into viral clips, they know YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and LinkedIn at a technical and creative level. Your long-form editors understand audio pacing, retention curves, and how to structure episodes for binge-ability. You feed them growth insights. They feed you creative solutions.
- Real business metrics to optimize. We don't care about vanity metrics. You're measuring downloads, listener retention, conversion to paying community, capital deployment influenced by the show. Actual business outcomes.
- Resource and autonomy. You have budget. You have decision-making power. You're not asking for permission, you're leading by data and results.
- The best content in the space. You're not trying to make mediocre content grow. You're amplifying something already excellent. Your job is distribution, positioning, and listener journey optimization with a creative team that can execute at the highest level.
