    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Designer to join our team in our San Antonio, TX office.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Work as a key member of a roadway design team under the direction of various project engineers/managers. Job  duties may include, but are not limited to:

    • Work with a team in the preparation of plans and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity
    • Work with a team, or independently, in the preparation of various roadway design elements using local (state, county or city) and/or AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignments; plan and profile; utility design and relocation; streetscape and roadway improvements; bicycle and pedestrian facilities; signing, striping and signalization
    • Prepare detailed construction drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D or MicroStation.
    • Produce high quality work and perform quality assurance checks
    • Coordinate with other disciplines and support services
    •  Identify applicable codes, standards, or other design requirements
    • Supervise the work of less experienced technical support personnel
    • Mentor and train technical support personnel
    • Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service
    • Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • 10+ years’ experience in roadway design
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Expert in Autodesk Civil3D or MicroStation and Bluebeam
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet project deadlines
    • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Qualifications
    • Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
    • Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.

     

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION: 

     

    Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Humanities OR

    Master's degree with a major in Humanities OR

    18 graduate credit hours in one or several of the following disciplines: Art History, Classics, History, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Religion/Theology, and Criticism of Performing Arts including music, theater, painting, sculpture, dance, and architecture
