    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    • The Plant Accountant is responsible for providing general accounting services for a single manufacturing facility. This role ensures daily maintenance of an accurate recordkeeping, prepares reports, and provides thorough investigation of variances.

    Required Skills

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • Responsible for publishing daily Direct and Indirect Labor report to Plant Leadership Team for timely, effective management of annual spending of ~$23MM. Analyzes spend versus budget daily.
    • Supports Plant Controller with product standard costing on finished goods by maintaining Bill of Materials, Scrap Rates, Raw Vegetables, and Packaging Materials’ standard cost in JDE System. Prepares critical production efficiency reports used by Plant leadership to make strategic operating decisions.
    • Responsible for plant inventory reconciliations for all inventory categories at month end by participating in physical counts and performing reconciliations as per the procedures and direction from Division Inventory Manager. Participates in year-end annual physical inventories of all inventory categories including, Raw Veg, Packaging Material, MRO, and Finished Goods.
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate labor standards and executes weekly reconciliation between production schedules and labor reports.
    • Supports Plant Controller with product standard costing on Finished Goods by maintaining Bill of Materials; Scrap Rates; Raw Vegetables and Packaging Materials standard cost in JDE System.
    • Develops, prepares, and analyzes reports for monthly close and financial reporting cycles and budgets. Uses reports to identify concerning trends, perform root-cause analyses, and suggest solutions to challenges.
    • Manages open purchase orders at each period end to resolve issues with purchasing, receiving, and plant spending departments. Responsible for implementing internal controls to reduce discrepancies and increase efficiencies.
    • Partners closely with the Plant Controller for continuous improvement projects by assisting with change management and process improvement throughout the Plant Accounting department.
    • Engages with BPMS process by reviewing/approving invoices, providing with appropriate G/L account information and correct approval flow.
    • Answers vendor questions regarding billing, payment, and recordkeeping. Establishes annual preapprovals in JDE system to streamline processes.
    • Prepares various ad hoc plant accounting reports and analysis as requested.
    • Follows all Food Safety Requirements and GMPs as applicable to position.

    Required Experience

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS)

    • 2-4 years of plant accounting or finance experience required.

    • Knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance required.

    • Desire to learn new skills and/or further education required.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with management as well as plant floor associates.

    • Above average Excel, Power Point & Word skills. AS400 computer and JDE System experience desirable.

    • Being a self-starter, working with minimum supervision and ability to work under tight deadlines and multiple assignment is highly desirable.

    • Ability to work in a fast pace dynamic environment with proficiency in time management, organization, and multi-tasking.

    • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand, and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism.

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting required.
