The Poll Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting voting equipment at assigned polling sites to ensure a smooth and efficient election process. This role requires technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide courteous assistance to voters and election staff.
Must be a Fulton County residents
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrive at the polling location early on Election Day to set up and test voting machines and equipment.
- Verify that all equipment is functioning properly before polls open.
- Assist with the proper placement of signage, privacy booths, and election materials.
- Provide technical support to poll workers and voters throughout the day.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues with voting machines, printers, and scanners.
- Document and report equipment problems to the Election Supervisor promptly.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of election equipment and voter information.
- Assist with closing procedures, including shutting down machines, printing results tapes, and packing equipment for return.
- Follow all election policies, procedures, and security protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computers, printers, and electronic devices.
- Ability to lift and transport election equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work long hours on Election Day.
- Must complete required training provided by the Elections Office.
Work Conditions:
- Long shifts on Election Day, including early morning setup and late evening breakdown.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors at polling sites.
- Requires standing, bending, and lifting.
