    Portfolio Manager – Research & Advisory

    OVERVIEW

    ECG Resources has been retained to identify a Manager of Research and Client Advisory for a leading wealth management firm. This position requires an ambitious learner and financially savvy individual who will gain meaningful exposure to client advisory, investment research, and light operational involvement. The role serves as a gateway to becoming a full-fledged financial advisor and offers an exceptional platform for career development within a sophisticated, client-focused organization.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work closely with senior financial advisors to collectively advise and serve a group of high-net-worth client families, with responsibility for daily account administration (approximately 80% of time).
    • Collaborate with client teams to develop investment policies, including recommending asset allocations, addressing tax and estate considerations, and proposing specific investments vetted by the firm's research group.
    • Regularly monitor client portfolios to ensure adherence to target allocations and support cash flow and tax planning purposes.
    • Respond to client queries, with the goal of increasing decision-making authority and direct client coverage over time.
    • Work with team members to ensure high client satisfaction through excellent service, prompt follow-up on client issues, and proactive problem solving.
    • Manage client to-do lists and team calendars, demonstrating flexibility to adjust schedules and prioritize workload across multiple clients as necessary.
    • Liaise with the Portfolio Accounting department and Client Service Administrators to ensure portfolios are properly set up for performance measurement, including benchmarks and composites.
    • Research and analyze potential investment strategies for sophisticated clients in collaboration with members of the research team (approximately 20% of time).
    • Monitor daily notes from external economic research services and distribute relevant insights to appropriate stakeholders.
    • Work with the Chief Investment Strategist to produce the annual market outlook presentation for clients.
    • Assist in select manager searches and provide content support to the marketing team.
    • Become a subject matter expert on manager evaluation software (eVestment) to best understand processes and workflows.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field; a graduate degree or CFA designation (or demonstrated progress toward) would be highly beneficial.
    • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a related asset management or wealth management role.
    • Knowledge of the hedge fund industry, general investment principles, and broad asset classes.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg, and eVestment.
    • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to interpret statistics including returns, risk measurements, and correlations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to client service excellence and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
