    Job Description

    Hello! Thank you for taking the time for looking at our job post. The position is from 8:00am to 3:30PM Monday through Friday for the end of July into August. Then it turns into an after school position from 1:00pm-6:00pm M-F, starting in September. We are a small art school, and community, and quality of our program is very important to us.

    We are looking for a person who loves kids first and foremost! Second, we love ART! We have a lot of fun at our location, but also require a lot from our teacher's.

    Your responsibilities will be:

    To help in teaching fun and engaging art and creating lesson plans with our head art teacher.

    ENCOURAGE CURIOSITY, EXCITEMENT, CREATIVITY!

    • Develop a careful and creative program suitable for school aged children

    • Be able to instruct in using art supplies, pencils, scissors, stencils, glue, glitter, markers, ect.

    • Observe each child to help them build self-esteem

    • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments

    • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities

    • Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times

    • Track and communicate with children’s parents about progress and any issues

    • Collaborate with director of the preschool

    • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards for preschools. We clean our space after the kids leave after every shift. It's part of keeping everyone healthy!

    • Observing, tidying, and interjecting with social and emotional strategies for success

    • SKILLS

    • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and school educational methods

    • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms along with Covid-19 safety

    • Excellent communication and instructional skills

    • Ability to act as mediator between children

    • Cool-cucumber tempered, friendly and reliable

    • Balance between a creative mind and a practical mind

    • Registered with the Oregon Criminal Background Registry and have a valid CBR number.

    • First Aid/CPR, Food Handler's Card within 90 days of employment

    • Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect and Introduction to Childcare Health & Safety class within 30 days of employment

    • EXPERIENCE:
    • Early Childhood Education (1 year preferred)
