    THE POSITION
    The Men’s Recovery Growth Leader will have the opportunity to serve program participants experiencing life transformation by overseeing the delivery of case management and addictions recovery program components, carrying a case load of up to 15 men. This person will cultivate transformed lives by equipping The Harbor community for effective addictions recovery, relapse prevention, and in-depth growth.     THE PLACE

    The Harbor, Portland Rescue Mission’s men’s facility, is in a park-like setting located in NE Portland and is designed specifically to support the transformation and growth of men impacted by homelessness and addiction. This facility has the capacity to serve 38 adults.

    THE ESSENTIALS

    • Oversee, develop, and coordinate the growth of a Family Group of program participants (around 15 men) through weekly one-on-ones and other interactions, integrating addictions recovery, spiritual formation, and life skills training
    • Clearly communicate and coordinate with other Harbor staff about each participant through regular database documentation and staff meetings so that the staff team can work together to provide healing and growth
    • Regularly communicate with volunteer mentors and sponsors to support each participant’s spiritual, recovery, and relational growth.
    • Equip and train participants towards a peer-to-peer ministry environment
    • Utilize the Bible to support recovery, healing and growth so participants develop the ability to apply it to daily living
    • Support participants to become embedded in a partner church resulting in supportive community, accountability, discipleship and service involvement
    • Teach and lead curriculum, classes and groups for all participants at The Harbor according to the needs of the program

    BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • A passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and a testimony of continued growth in faith
    • A personal ethos and work ethic that reflects Portland Rescue Mission’s ministry culture – Highly Relational, Christ-Centered, Joyful Servant
    • A calling to serve men impacted by homelessness and addiction
    • Passionate and skilled in discerning and coaching men to success in Christian discipleship and addictions recovery
    • Alcohol/drug certification (CADC I) preferred
    • Excellent knowledge of Christian spiritual formation, chemical dependency, addiction recovery and counseling specific to relapse prevention
    • Proficient in communication, documentation, organization, scheduling and group and classroom participation
    • Agreement with Portland Rescue Mission’s Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics
