Job Description:
The Content and Media Specialist will be responsible for creating content for the school’s website and social media accounts, implementing the school social media plan, managing the school’s live streaming and recording of events, set up and breakdown of AV equipment for events, and advising the student media club. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. This position reports directly to the Director of Communications.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Director of Communications, technology department, and other designated departments to identify opportunities to promote Portledge via social media and live stream.
Maximize engagement on social and new media channels, producing weekly content (including videos) for use in the digital space.
Support the Director of Communications in providing digital and media handling advice to other departments.
Attend and live stream various school events including but not limited to athletic competitions and student performances.
Manage live stream software and equipment.
Manage AV equipment inventory, set up, and break down for events.
Support and draft media scripts for the student media club.
Support Communication team members as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, or related field preferred.
Flexible availability to work a shifting schedule to attend events, activities, games, and club meetings outside of regular school hours.
Experience with and/or the ability to quickly learn social media management across various platforms, digital and video content creation, media and brand cultivation, live stream equipment, photography software, and video/photo editing required.
Experience within a school setting is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate concise, meaningful, timely information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults and/or students in professional or social settings.
Belief in the value of all types of diversity with a commitment to social justice and equity.
Anti-racism/anti-bias training preferred.
