We are seeking a detailed oriented Collection Specialist for our state-licensed and Joint Commission certified treatment centers officing in Houston, TX.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    The focus of this role is to perform collection activities related to follow-up and account resolution and includes respectful communication to patients, clients, reimbursement vendors, and other external entities while adhering to all Positive Recovery, state, and federal guidelines.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    §  Obtain payment from third-party payers and self-pay accounts to enhance cash flow and gather reimbursement based on established contracts.

    §  Use collection tools to ensure quality recovery services and meet or exceed established goals and work standards.

    §  Handle inbound patient and/or carrier calls promptly and professionally by providing assistance and resolution to account inquiries, issues, and requests.

    §  Perform research and analysis of account issues and strive to resolve problems timely and accurately.

    §  Promote positive patient relations by communicating in a manner that demonstrates respect for the human dignity of patients and/or their families.

    §  You will act as a liaison and administer contracts in collecting third-party accounts (Medicare and Medicaid).

    §  You will complete account reconciliation of accounts turned over to outside agencies and assign bad debt accounts to the collection agency.

    §  Cross-train in various departments allowing familiarity with all aspects of patient accounting functions related to collections.

    §  Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    §  Prefer Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of education and experience required.

    §  Two (2) year minimum healthcare experience with collection required.

    §  Basic understanding of insurance terminology (out-of-network benefits vs. in-network benefits, coinsurance, co-pays, and deductibles), in addition to general billing practices.

    §  Possess excellent customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate through verbal and digital communications.

    §  Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, with previous experience using an electronic health record program.
