    Job Description Summary:

    The Post Entry Corrections Technical Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for the post-entry correction program, providing technical oversight and quality review of complex correction activities. This position is responsible for validating correction methodologies, reviewing high-risk and high-impact corrections, approving technical determinations, supporting audit and disclosure activities, and developing standardized procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and the trade compliance requirements.

     

    The Post Entry Corrections Technical Specialist partners closely with Post Entry Correction Analysts, Program Coordinators, customs brokers, Legal, and Trade Compliance leadership to ensure corrections are executed consistently, accurately, and in accordance with regulatory requirements. This role supports continuous improvement efforts through technical guidance, quality reviews, training, and procedural development.

    This position is performed with minimal supervision.

    Dimensions: Responsible for technical review and quality oversight of post-entry correction activities, validation of correction methodologies, approval of complex compliance determinations, support of audits and disclosures, and development of post-entry correction processes and procedures. Reports directly to the Trade Compliance Manager.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Perform technical and quality reviews of high-risk or complex post-entry correction activities.
    • Validate methodologies used to support correction filings, duty calculations, and regulatory determinations.
    • Review and approve customs valuation adjustments and related supporting documentation.
    • Review and approve country of origin determinations supporting correction activities.
    • Provide technical guidance regarding HTS classification, valuation, origin, Chapter 99 reporting, and trade agreement requirements.
    • Support Post Summary Corrections (PSCs), protests, reconciliation filings, and other post-entry activities involving elevated compliance risk.
    • Assist with prior disclosures, CBP inquiries, audits, and compliance reviews.
    • Review correction packages for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance prior to submission.
    • Research CBP regulations, rulings, CSMS messages, Federal Register notices, and other regulatory guidance.
    • Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, templates, and quality controls.
    • Identify recurring compliance issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
    • Provide technical training and coaching to Post Entry Correction Analysts and Program Coordinators.
    • Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on correction quality, consistency, and compliance.
    • Support management reporting and compliance metrics related to correction accuracy and quality performance.
    • Partner with brokers, legal counsel, and internal business stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in customs compliance, customs brokerage, import operations, post-entry corrections, or global trade compliance.
    • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, customs valuation, country of origin rules, HTS classification, and trade agreement requirements.
    • Experience reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements and applying them to import transactions.
    • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to communicate complex compliance requirements to business stakeholders.
    • Experience working in cross-functional environments with multiple stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Experience with Post Summary Corrections (PSCs), protests, reconciliation, and prior disclosures.
    • Knowledge of Section 232, Section 301, IEEPA, Chapter 99 provisions, and duty recovery programs.
    • Licensed Customs Broker designation.
    • Experience supporting CBP audits, focused assessments, prior disclosures, or government inquiries.
    • Knowledge of customs valuation methodologies and origin determination requirements.
    • Experience developing procedures, work instructions, and compliance controls.
    • Experience in providing training, mentoring, or technical guidance to team members.
    • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
    • Experience working with ACE and customs broker systems.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
