Northern Kentucky manufacturer of industrial transit and utility electrical products has an opening for an energetic Mechanical Designer. Company employs approximately 110 people in a multi-shift, non-union environment. Products are semi-custom and custom made. The position reports to the Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for providing mechanical design and drafting expertise in the areas of sheet metal, fasteners and metal enclosures. The focus of the position is designing enclosures, assemblies and structures for electrical products, implementing designs and supporting product introduction to manufacturing facilities. Development of BOMs and performing ECOs is also required.

Minimum requirements are a Certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design with design experience using 3D CAD package. An Associate Degree is preferred. Familiarity with SolidWorks or Autodesk’s Inventor packages is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for technically supporting the sales, manufacturing, procurement and R&D departments by ensuring designs and products are correctly designed to the client specifications.

Responsible for creating design packages

Maintains design criteria

Focus on cost and functionality of designs

Maintains design control via ERP system

Maintains technical knowledge base via the company network

Maintains tracking and trending data via the company intranet

Education and Experience

Minimum two year technical degree

Five years experience in design related field
