The ImmunoDermatology group in the Immunology Translational Sciences department is searching for a highly motivated, creative and collaborative postdoctoral fellow to advance our understanding of IL-23 biology in health and disease. This is an exciting opportunity to investigate the role of IL-23 producing cells using patient specimens. The postdoctoral fellow will be skillful in crafting in vitro and ex vivo functional characterization of human dendritic cells by flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and transcriptional analysis. They will analyze clinical trial samples to investigate the pharmacodynamic response to guselkumab, an IL-23 inhibitor. The successful candidate will engage in the planning, execution, and interpretation of laboratory experiments, such as assay optimization and development, data collection, data QC and data analysis. They will be conducting experiments with limited guidance and will be encouraged to collaborate with bioinformaticians and lab scientists to conduct multi-omic analysis. The candidate will also evaluate and optimize method for novel platforms to enable multiparameter analysis of patient derived samples. This will be an opportunity for career development and growth and potential publications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

    • Crafting, performing and interpreting ex vivo experiments with primary human tissue and immune cells isolated from biopsy tissue or blood.

    • Using various molecular biology approaches, including Nanostring, single cell RNAseq, multiplex immunofluorescence, tissue spatial transcriptomic, to generate proteomic and transcriptomic data.

    • Demonstrating independent problem solving and systematic data-driven experimental design and execution.

    • Crafting and applying flow cytometry to immunophenotype cell populations using multicolor panels in various platforms and analyzing the data generated.

    • Assessing new technologies/platforms that may be applied in current/future biomarker studies.

    • Providing project update and experimental findings in oral and written communication.

    • Authoring conference abstracts and peer-review publications.
