    Your Role and Responsibilities

    IBM Research seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to apply quantum computing to drug discovery applications. The candidate will be expected to carry out high-impact research and engage in fruitful collaborations with other members of the team working on quantum algorithms and demonstrations of applications on quantum hardware by helping to design and optimize hybrid classical-quantum algorithms and workflows involving the use of molecular dynamics and machine learning tools for drug discovery. The successful candidate should demonstrate creativity in working with other team members to plan, design, and execute projects, experience communicating research results at national/international conferences and ability to work independently and in teams to deliver high-quality results with aggressive timelines.

    Required Technical and Professional Expertise

    • PhD degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or a related area

    • Advanced programming skills with Python, C/C++ or related languages

    • Experience applying machine learning to solve problems in the physical sciences

    • Experience with the development, assessment, and application of force fields (both atomistic and coarse-grained) for molecular simulations, especially of bimolecular systems

    • Well-versed in molecular dynamics simulations, best practices, force fields, and associated software packages (e.g CHARMM, Amber, etc.)

    • Well-versed in docking for drug discovery

    Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

    • Knowledge and experience with quantum information science is desired
