Potter Handy is an industry leader in plaintiff’s civil rights litigation. Our disability rights work has resulted in numerous precedent-shaping decisions and is responsible for making California one of the most accessible states in the country.
Our firm culture has been telecommute/remote friendly for more than a decade, providing flexibility to the 30+ attorneys working throughout the state.
This is an entry level associate litigation attorney position that will be involved in cases from intake to trial in both state and federal courts in California. You may make court appearances and will be responsible for communicating with clients and drafting motions and other case documents. Regular travel around the Bay Area for court hearings, depositions, etc. is required.
This position has the following additional requirements:
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation available to you during business hours
Member in good standing with the California bar
Exhibit an attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff
Ability to use and operate a home computer at a level appropriate for working from home: use of Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and an internet connection appropriate for use of Zoom and other telecommuting software.
There is no particular formula or background for a successful candidate. Special consideration will be given to those with experience in any of: ADR, federal civil litigation, civil or criminal trials, or interest in disability rights. Newly barred attorneys with demonstrated academic achievement and/or relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
Location: Work from home with local travel.
Compensation: Salary or Hourly available. $120,000/yr+ DOE. Competitive health care benefits.
