Job Summary
Powder Horn Family Camping Resort is a family campground located in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We are seeking a positive, friendly, and experienced Activities and Events Manager (Assistant Office Manager) to join our team! As one of two Assistant Office Managers, your main focus will be on our Activities Department, while helping with organizing and overseeing the daily operations of our office.
As the Activities and Events Manager, you will be working with a dynamic team to host the most fun events our campground offers! From trivia and movie nights all the way to 21+ events and our famous themed celebrations, you'll be at the heart of it all. The Activities and Events Manager (Assistant Office Manager) must possess strong communication skills and remain focused on ensuring both positive customer experiences and positive team/employee experiences. You should be capable of solving problems successfully even when faced with challenging situations.
This position focuses on assisting within the office as well as managing our Activities and Game Window departments. During winter months, the Activities and Events Manager (Assistant Office Manager) will work in the office planning activities and helping with office procedures. During our peak summer months (roughly June to August), this position will be primarily focused on conducting activity events and managing the Activities and Game Window departments.
Working schedule from late-April to mid-October is based on the needs of the business. Shifts may start as early as 7:30am or end as late as 11:30pm when the campground is open to guests. Weekends and evenings required as most of our events are held during those times. Working schedule from mid-October to late-April is Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 4pm. There are times where this schedule may change due to camping trade shows or holidays.
Responsibilities:
Hiring and scheduling
Organize and coordinate Activities and Game Window operations to maximize efficiency
Manage staff
Ensure supplies, equipment, and inventory are stocked and maintained
Respond to guest concerns and resolve them appropriately
Assist in company wide and department specific training
Ensure compliance with health and quality standards
Maintain quality relationships with vendors
Assist with office duties and responsibilities
Covering office manager on duty shifts when activities are not being held
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Hospitality Manager is preferred
Experience with outdoor recreation activities
Ability to plan and organize events
Familiarity with hospitality industry standards
Proficient in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus - especially French
Ability to resolve issues with a customer-focused orientation
An outgoing personality
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Proficient with technology and Apple products
Strong ability to problem solve
