Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer / Data Analyst with hands-on experience in data visualization, analytics, and reporting within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain.
The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain insightful Power BI dashboards and reports to support underwriting, claims, actuarial, and financial analysis functions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports using DAX, Power Query, and data modeling best practices.
Collaborate with business users from P&C lines (Underwriting, Claims, Policy Admin, Actuarial, Finance) to understand KPIs, data requirements, and analytical objectives.
Connect and integrate data from multiple sources such as SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, Guidewire, Duck Creek, Data Warehouse systems, or policy admin systems.
Develop and optimize data models, measures, and calculations for performance and usability.
Implement row-level security, data refresh automation, and governance standards within Power BI Service.
Support data validation, reconciliation, and data quality initiatives.
Work closely with data engineering teams to improve ETL pipelines feeding Power BI datasets.
Document report logic, data lineage, and ensure version control for deliverables.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service).
Strong command of DAX, Power Query (M), and Data Modeling principles.
Experience with P&C insurance data domains such as policy, claims, premiums, losses, exposures, reinsurance, etc.
Familiarity with insurance systems like Guidewire, Duck Creek, or equivalent policy/claims systems.
Strong SQL querying and performance tuning skills.
Experience with ETL / data preparation tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Databricks).
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business questions into analytical insights.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Azure Synapse / Snowflake / Databricks or similar cloud-based data platforms.
Understanding of loss triangles, incurred vs. paid claims, earned premium metrics, or other insurance actuarial measures.
Experience with data governance / Power BI administration.
Prior experience in a consulting or analytics COE (Center of Excellence) environment.
