    About Powergen Controls

Powergen Controls is an engineering service provider and OEM manufacturer specializing in power generation and power distribution control systems. We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team. This position involves up to 80% travel (Monday–Friday, home most weekends)—ideal for individuals who thrive on new experiences and enjoy working in diverse locations.

    About the Role

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and commissioning power generation and power distribution control systems across the country. You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest technical standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

    · Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and control systems.

    · Wire industrial control panels, switchboards, and MCCs.

    · Perform field commissioning and startup activities.

    · Connect to PLCs and HMIs for downloading, uploading, and remote troubleshooting.

    · Perform basic mechanical repairs in the field (e.g., fixing hinges, repairing screw threads for door covers, touch-up paint, small hardware adjustments).

    · Document all site activities: weekly timesheets, signed Field Service Reports, and project update emails.

    · Update client electrical drawings in AutoCAD (one-lines, schematics, diagrams).

    · Communicate clearly with project managers, clients, and team members.

    · Adhere to all company, industry, and client safety standards.

    · Stay current with safety and technical training requirements.

    Ideal Candidate Qualities

    · Proficient in English (Spanish is a plus).

    · Familiar with PLC and HMI software tools (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent) for program connection and troubleshooting.

    · Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills—both electrical and light mechanical.

    · Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic work environment.

    · Safety-focused and ethical.

    · Achievement-oriented and eager to take on challenges.

    · Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

    · Team player who values collaboration and customer satisfaction.

    · Dependable and professional in representing the company.

    · Committed to continuous learning and skill development.

    · Handy with tools and comfortable handling minor mechanical fixes when needed.

    Why Join Us?

    · Travel opportunities across the U.S. while being home most weekends.

    · Exposure to diverse projects and industries.

    · Career growth in a fast-paced, high-demand technical field.

    · A supportive team culture where your expertise makes a direct impact.
