    Job Description

    JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE ASSOCIATE

    LOCATION: Conveniently located in downtown Boston near South Station

    SUMMARY: PowerAdvocate is seeking an exceptionally organized and motivated Accounting and Finance Associate who can interact with people, computers, financial systems and spreadsheets in a fast-paced entrepreneurial business environment with confidence, common sense, attention to detail, and a professional and upbeat attitude. This is a high-profile position, reporting directly to the VP Finance/Corporate Controller.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

    • Auditing of Employee time and expense reports based on company policy
    • General ledger (posting transactions, month-end and quarterly close, and ad hoc reporting)
    • Perform Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations including validation of account balance in Power Advocate ERP system as well as parent ERP system; investigating any variances encountered
    • Working with the finance team to execute the monthly financial close process in compliance with parent company requirements
    • Fixed asset reporting to internal company management and external (corporate)
    • Revenue contract analysis to support revenue recognition, financial and accounting reporting
    • Support the Financial Planning team as needed to meet corporate deadlines
    • Work with parent company (Verisk Analytics) corporate finance team on various accounting matters
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Solid Understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices)
    • Previous hands-on accounting skills
    • Experience with an ERP ACCOUNTING system is desired
    • Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Highest degree of organization and attention to detail
    • Ability to juggle many tasks while meeting all deadlines
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to take initiative
