    Job Description

    JOB TITLE: DATA ANALYST INTERN/COOP, RENEWABLES MODELING

    LOCATION: Remote/Downtown Boston near South Station

    SUMMARY: As a Data Analyst Coop/Intern, you’ll play an active role in helping build Verisk, Wood Mackenzie, and PowerAdvocate’s Power and Renewables cost and asset modeling datasets.  This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a new product development effort in the energy sector’s highest growth area- renewable power generation and storage.  While helping contribute to Verisk’s unique data sets, you’ll gain valuable perspectives on data acquisition, normalization, and transformation, the agile development process, and assist with developing methods to automate future data processing using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

    RENEWABLES DATA ACQUISITION AND ANALYSIS

    • Support the Renewables Asset and Cost Modeling Product Team
    • Primary responsibility will be to perform data acquisition and transformation from select PowerAdvocate and Wood Mackenzie datasets in support of new product development for a new joint PowerAdvocate and Wood Mackenzie renewables modeling solution
    • Scope to include extraction, enrichment, and bulk loading of historic and reference data into development database for use by Product Owners and Developers as baseline for analytical purposes
    • Whenever possible, recommend process and technology-based improvements (e.g. AI, Machine Learning) to the data extraction and transformation methods to drive efficiency and productivity gains

    • Desire to work hard, focus, and exercise initiative
    • Excellent data analysis skills
    • Interest in being part of a new product launch team
    • Curiosity as to why good data is critical to a cleaner environment driven by the energy transition
    • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
    • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work, develop/improve work processes and meet deadlines
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Trello, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Sharepoint
    • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and delivering work in accordance to deadlines
